Corvallis man facing assault charges for allegedly attacking man with garden shears
CORVALLIS, Ore. – A Corvallis man is facing charges of assault after allegedly using gardening shears to attack a person, according to court records. According to documents filed with the Benton County Circuit Court, on July 15, Luke Thomas Ludwig, 38, was charged with several crimes including second-degree assault. Court documents allege that Ludwig had used gardening shears to physically injure another man in an incident on July 13. Court records also allege that Ludwig had attacked a woman on July 3, although those records make no mention of gardening shears or any other deadly weapon.

Health officials warn public to avoid North Santiam River due to cyanotoxins
The Oregon Health Authority said Tuesday evening that people should avoid getting in the North Santiam River due to the presence of cyanotoxins. OHA issued a healthy advisory for the North Santiam River from the confluence with the South Santiam River up to the mouth of the Little North Fork Santiam River in Mehama and a precautionary advisory for the North Santiam River from Mehama upstream to and including Big Cliff Reservoir and Detroit Reservoir.
Oregon wildfire spotted near Blue River east of Eugene
A wildfire broke out Tuesday afternoon off state route 126 in the Cascade Range, sending a plume of smoke above the evergreens amid high temperatures and red flag warnings across western Oregon. Smoke was reported just after 1 p.m. north of Blue River Reservoir, about 50 miles east of Eugene.
