This August a company called Transmission Developers has been running a grappling hook along the bottom of the river. Think of this like a bulldozer clearing a path, only in this case what’s being moved is debris, to make a smooth “roadway” along the river bottom in order to bury 190 miles of underwater cable. Once that’s done, active cable burial beneath the river starts in September. By mid-2025 it will deliver 1,250 megawatts of hydroelectric energy from Quebec, enough to run about 1 million households.
