    WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a $2,342,048 grant to Cattaraugus County for Head Start and Early Head Start projects.

    “By investing in this program, we are providing families in the Southern Tier with access to resources that will ensure school readiness and a brighter future,” said Rep. Nick Langworthy, who announced the grant Thursday.”This grant exemplifies our region’s commitment to fostering a community where every child's potential is nurtured and realized.”

    Langworthy's congressional district includes the Greaer Olean area.

    Head Start preschool services assist children ages 3 to 5 and their families. Early Head Start services are provided for families with children up to 3, as well as expectant families.

    All Head Start programs are designed to provide eligible children and families with high-quality services in safe and healthy settings that prepare children for school and life.
