    BASEBALL: Phillipsburg Shuts Out Belvidere for Ninth Straight Victory

    Phillipsburg shuts out Belivere at Belvidere May 13, 2024 11-0. The Liners extend their winning streak to nine games in a row.

    PHILLIPSBURG, NJ - Senior shortstop Nick Stettner went 2-for-4 with a double and career-high four RBI and sophomore Mike Bracco was awarded his first varsity pitching victory as Phillipsburg High School ran its winning streak to nine straight with an 11-0 whitewash of host Belvidere on Monday, May 13, 2024.

    Kevin Burgess reached base four times and scored three runs, Jacob Kisselbach went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, and Bracco and Eddie Weindel also doubled for the Stateliners (16-5). Six different players drove in runs, and seven players combined to steal nine bases.

    Bracco combined with Weindel, Kisselbach, and Brady Handwerk, a junior making his first varsity appearance, in pitching a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts. Handwerk struck out two in his one inning of work.

    The Stateliners are currently ranked second among 22 schools in North Jersey, Section 2 Group 4 behind only Bridgewater-Raritan (18-3), and could get a few home state games. Ridge (15-7) is ranked third, and Westfield (16-3) is fourth.
