African American Center for Cultural Development Hosts May 15 Ribbon Cutting

OLEAN, NY — The African American Center for Cultural Development, 214 N. Barry St., will host a ribbon cutting Wednesday at 11:30 p.m.

The building, donated in November 2020, is a permanent home for the not-for-profit which carries out a mission "to value, promote and integrate the rich and diverse Black history and culture of the Southern Tier Region of New York State through the celebration of the talents, lives, and history of the African Americans in the region," according to a press release.

The renovations were done under New York State's Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

Persons on the agenda for the ribbon cutting include:

• Della Moore, director of the African American Center for Cultural Development
• Mo Sumbundu, assistant director, Empire State Development
• John Eberth, district director for the Office of Assemblyman Joseph M. Gtiglio
• Kirk Windus, Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation

Tours of the center's first floor will be available immediately following the ceremony.

The center will host an official grand opening from 4 until 7 p.m.

Center hours, until further notice, will be on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 until 4 p.m.
