    Newton Boys Baseball Team Shuts Out Sussex Tech

    SPARTA, NJ—The Newton High School baseball team played away against Sussex Tech on Thursday, May 16 and shut them out 12-0. Mason Bucci threw a no-hitter for Newton, going 84 pitches with four strikeouts in five innings.

    The Braves got on the board in the first inning with two runs.  Their bats exploded in the second inning with nine runs. They scored their final run in the fifth inning, bringing the game to an early close.

    Maxwell Maslowski led the Braves at the plate going 4-for-4. He hit a single, three doubles, had four RBIs and scored two of Newton’s runs.

    Hunter Wolfe, who went 2-for-4, also scored three runs. He hit a single and a double and had one RBI. Ryan Bollette went 2-for-3 at bat with a single, double. RBI and three runs scored.

    Bucci went 1-for-4 with a single, RBI and one run scored, while James Marotta went 2-for-4 with two singles, one RBI and one run scored.

    Daniel Mountford went 1-for-2 at bat with a single, RBI and one run scored. Braxton Guerra, who went 0-for-2 scored a run for Newton, as did Matthew Siegel, who went 0-for-3.

    The Newton High School baseball team ended the 2024 season with an overall record of 6-17 and an NJAC-Freedom record of 1-9.
