HS Softball: Lodi Rallies Past Wood-Ridge on Senior Day

WOOD-RIDGE, NJ – A seven-run, seventh inning lifted Lodi past Wood-Ridge 9-5 on Monday afternoon in a NJIC Meadowlands softball game at the Wood-Ridge Athletic Complex. Wood-Ridge falls to 8=14 with the loss, Lodi improves to 10-9.
The dugout at the Wood-Ridge Athletic Complex was decorated with banners, posters, and balloons for Senior Day. Five Lady Blue Devils, Alana Ambrosio, Hannah MacDonald, Ava Rizos, Lily Sebastian, and Samantha Stasion, and five Lodi players were honored during a pregame ceremony. Each player was introduced by Head Coach Ally Paskas. They were escorted onto the field by their families and took photos at home plate. Before the game, each player received a goody basket with some of their favorite candies, an engraved travel tumbler, and a team autographed softball.
The Rams led 2-0 going into the bottom of the sixth, when Wood-Ridge scored two runs to tie the game at 2-2. Lodi then scored seven in the top of the seventh. Wood-Ridge’s rallied in the ninth, scoring three times, but falling short.
Brooke Stellato, Ava Rizos and Alana Ambrosio each had two hits for the Lady Blue Devils, with Rizos and Alexa Celentano each driving in two runs.
Lodi’s AnnaBella LoPresti had two hits and two runs batted in, while Maria Frias had three hits to lead the Rams offense. Kayla Fernandez picked up the win, allowing five runs, three earned, on nine hits, while walking two and striking out two.
Isabella Capuano took the loss for Wood-Ridge, allowing nine runs, five earned, on 13 hits, walking one and striking out seven.
