    COLONIA, NJ -- The Colonia softball team advanced with a 10-0 victory over Ferris of Jersey City in the first round of the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 3 tournament on Wednesday.

    Amelia Carrion drove in five runs with a home run and a double for Colonia (15-10), which got things started with four runs in the first inning.

    Marisa Adrian and Shelby DeCillis each had two hits and one RBI and Lyela Nieves went 2-for-3 for the Patriots.

    Winning pitcher Keira Carroll allowed two hits and two walks in five innings, with six strikeouts.

    Sixth-seeded Colonia will play at third-seeded West Morris in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday.
