Softball: Columbia Beats Kearny, 10-0, in State Tournament

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- Columbia advanced in the opening round of the NJSIAA Section 1, Group 4 tournament with a 10-0 softball victory over Kearny on Wednesday.

Claire Shupe pitched a six-inning one-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk for Columbia (15-9) and went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in.

Ellie Martin was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Charlotte Klepesch and Maisie Pietruski each had two hits and two RBI.

Columbia, the third seed, will host sixth-seeded Ridgewood in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
