    Memorial Day Weekend 2024: Parades, Ceremonies planned in Neptune City and Neptune Township

    There are several commemorative events happening in Neptune City and Neptune Township to pay tribute to our veterans this Memorial Day.

    NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP/NEPTUNE CITY, NJ — Memorial Day is observed on Monday, May 27 to commemorate military personnel who gave their lives in defense of our country.

    There are several special events planned in Neptune City and Neptune Township to honor their lives.

    Neptune City

    In Neptune City a Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at Memorial Park on Riverview Avenue on Monday, May 27th, starting at 10 a.m.

    Residents are welcomed to the pavilion following the ceremony for hot dogs, chips and soda.

    Neptune Township

    Neptune Township will host two parades for the community to attend.

    American Legion Post 346 will host a remembrance event on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, at 9 am. at 21 Gully Road.

    Neptune Township will then host a parade and service in Shark River Hills beginning at 9 a.m. at the start of  South Riverside Drive.

    The annual Neptune Township parade, jointly sponsored by American Legion Posts 266 and 346 and VFW Post 1333, will step off at Neptune High School, 55 Neptune Blvd at 10 a.m.

    The parade will go down Route 33 to Route 71 leading marchers to the World War I and ll monument, which sits at Broadway Gates Park at the entrance to Ocean Grove, for a brief service.

    It will then continue down Route 71 to Main Street and conclude at the Ocean Grove Youth Temple, located at 21 Pilgrim Pathway.

    The program will be followed by lunch at the VFW Post 1333 located at 1515 Route 33.

    This year's grand marshal is Stanley Dubroff, a WWII Veteran.

    Anthony Gualario, VFW Post 1333 Jr. Vice-Commander, will be a guest speaker.

    All Neptune Township community organization's are welcome to participate in the parade.

    Neptune Township Deputy Mayor Robert Lane expressed the importance of the community gathering together to honor those who have served our country.

    “When you are preparing for your holiday weekend and possibly barbecuing as most people do — remember why we have Memorial Day. Pray and remember those who risked and ultimately lost their lives fighting on behalf of the United States so we can have what we have today because of them,” stated Lane.
