Softball: Keyport Trounces South Amboy, 13-0, in State Tournament

KEYPORT, NJ -- Danika Borza pitched a five-inning one-hitter and Keyport advanced in the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 1 softball tournament with a 13-0 victory over South Amboy on Wednesday.

Borza struck out 11 batters and walked one. She was pitching with a 3-0 lead before Keyport (13-5) erupted with 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Borza also hit a double and drove in three runs, Madelyn Mell drove in two runs, and Kyleigh McGrogan and Ava Mitchell each collected two hits and one RBI.

Keyport, the sixth seed, will play at third-seeded Highland Park in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
