Softball: Middletown North Beats Ocean Township, 7-0, in State Tournament

MIDDLETOWN, NJ -- Madilynn Boyce pitched a two-hitter and Middletown North advanced in the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey, Group 3 tournament with a 7-0 softball victory over Ocean Township on Wednesday.

Boyce struck out 12 batters and walked two in seven innings.

Middletown North (20-5) pulled away late, with two runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth. Natalie Trezza went 3-for-4 with a double and four runs batted in, and Brianna Soto was 2-for-4 with two runs, scored, a double and an RBI.

Second-seeded Middletown North will host seventh-seeded Ewing in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday.
