Oliver Figueroa-Celi: A talented graphic designer, Oliver has built an impressive portfolio through internships with the New York Red Bulls and is currently designing for the Baltimore Orioles. His journey at PCCC has paved the way for a promising career in the competitive field of graphic design.

Stephlyn Buchanan: As an adult student, Stephlyn's story is a testament to perseverance and determination. After years of balancing family and work, she realized her dream of a college education. Notably, her graduation coincides with her youngest daughter’s college graduation, making it a double celebration for the Buchanan family.

Melissa Valverde, RN: Melissa's path to nursing was unconventional but inspiring. With a previous degree in sociology and a career as a social worker, she decided to follow her true calling and pursued a nursing degree at PCCC. Her dedication has earned her awards and recognition, and she now serves the community as a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson.

'How you do anything is how you do everything' has guided me from self-doubt to standing here," Bilal Gebril, a graduate said. "My journey, marked by overcoming challenges like Tourette Syndrome and finding support in Phi Beta Kappa, taught me the value of small actions and big dreams. To the faculty, staff, family, and especially my mom, thank you for your unwavering support. Graduates, as we embark on new chapters, remember that every challenge we overcome is a step toward success."

The commencement ceremony highlighted the diverse achievements and aspirations of PCCC’s graduates. From career changers to young professionals, each student’s journey reflected the college’s mission to provide accessible and high-quality education.

"I walked through the halls this week, and so many of you told me you couldn't wait for graduation," Dr. Steven Rose, President of PCCC said. "This is why we're here—to see you succeed and celebrate with you tonight. I want everyone to smile and know how serious this moment is. We have graduates from every town in Passaic County, and 63% of our graduating class are female. Some of you started in 1977, some in 1983, and 105 of you have been working towards this for over 10 years. Despite what some may say, taking more than three years to get your degree does not mean you're not a success. You are all successes."

The ceremony also celebrated graduates who received their degree alongside their high school diploma, and even one person who is 77 years old.

"Today, I am honored to graduate with an Associate in Applied Science in Accounting and serve as the valedictorian, following in my mother's footsteps from 1998," Ady Helena, the Class' Valedictorian said. "My journey has been filled with challenges, but thanks to the incredible support from my professors, the PCCC finance department, and my family, I persevered. I am inspired by my fellow graduates, each overcoming their own struggles. This achievement is a testament to our hard work and dedication. Remember, success looks different for everyone, but today we all succeeded. Congratulations to the Class of 2024—this is just the beginning."
