Chargers Spring Sports Teams Sweep Division Championships

SPOTSWOOD, NJ - For the second straight spring athletic season, Spotswood High School spring sports teams have won their respective Greater Middlesex Conference Division titles. It was back-to-back division titles for the Chargers baseball, golf, softball and boys tennis teams. For the Chargers' softball program, it was the third consecutive division title.

Spotswood's varsity softball team clinched the GMC's White Division title earlier this month. The Chargers finished with a 10-1 division record for the team's second straight White Division title. Spotswood won the GMC Blue Division title for the 2021-22 season before moving up to the White Division last spring. The Chargers have an overall record of 19-8 and play in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group Two Tournament on Tuesday. Spotswood is the top seed.

The Chargers varsity baseball team concluded its season on Friday with a 19-4-2 overall record. Spotswood was 11-1 against Greater Middlesex Conference Blue Division teams, earning them back-to-back titles. It was the first time since the 2017 and 2018 seasons that the Chargers earned consecutive Blue Division titles.

Spotswood's golf team went undefeated against GMC Blue Division teams this spring, finishing with a 13-0 division record. Overall, Chargers golfers were 14-2.

On the court, Spotswood's boys tennis team wrapped up back-to-back Greater Middlesex Conference Gold Division titles with consecutive wins over Dunellen High School. Spotswood finished with an overall record of 11-4 and was 10-1 against Gold Division teams.

All Spotswood High School spring sports student/athletes will be recognized for their accomplishments at the annual spring sports banquet on Wednesday, June 5.
