SUMMIT, NJ -- A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Butterfly Garden at the Summit Park Line will be held on Tuesday, May 28, at 4:30 p.m. at the Summit Park Line. Members of the public are invited to attend and explore the new garden after the ceremony.

The new enclosed garden area is located at the Park Line entrance on Broad Street. Several plants have been specifically chosen for the space, to provide Monarch butterflies with food and nectar at every stage of life. The plants and fenced-in area will also provide butterflies with a protected environment in which to lay eggs and return to year after year. The Summit Environmental Commission received one of the 2023 Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) Open Space Stewardship Grants for Environmental Commissions to complete the fencing at the Butterfly Garden.

My company has a warehouse in East Brunswick and there has to be 500 caterpillars. I always try to pick them up and put them in the woods but I would love for this place to come and get them.
