CHS Junior Aryan Kumar Starts Podcast Series on Chatham Leaders and Tells the 'Unheard Of....' Story

CHATHAM, NJ -- Earlier this year, Aryan Kumar was applauded by former Chatham Borough Mayor Thaddeus Kobylarz and the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce for his 67-page paperback Main Street During COVID: A Chatham Story , which documents the struggles and perseverance of Chatham businesses during the Covid Pandemic. Now, Kumar is continuing to share Chatham stories through his new podcast Unheard Of… .

As stated by Kumar himself, the purpose of Unheard Of… is to “introduce Chatham leaders and their contributions to the community through a personal lens.” He describes the creation of each video as a “lengthy process of organization and managing timelines.”

Kumar starts out by researching Chatham events, which alongside networking, allows him to find local heroes to reach out to, and he drafts questions accordingly. After each interview, he serves as producer, editor, and audio engineer, juggling multiple editing platforms and consistently re-watching his podcast to make sure it is of the highest quality. He also incorporates YouTube shorts to advertise his channel.

Unheard Of… already has two episodes out. The first one, released a month ago, features former Chatham Borough Mayor Thaddeus Kobylarz. The second episode, released just over a week ago, features the President of Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce, Jim Connelly . The first episode has over 370 views, while the second one is almost at 300, though quickly catching up to the first.

Kumar notes how much he has “learned and improved between the two videos.” He believes that the concision of his second video “will do a better job at appealing to audiences,” yet be just as insightful as the first one. The first video sits at one and a half hours, while the second one is 30 minutes.

Unheard Of… will be a series of 10-12 episodes with around one episode produced each month. Kumar mentioned that future episodes are already in the works and that he looks forward to continuing the podcast over the summer and within his senior year at CHS.

When asked who would be featured in future episodes, Kumar responded that he’s “not sure if I want to disclose that information, but I invite everyone to tune in to find out.”
