MILLBURN, NJ – For the 19 th time, Allen Shefts, President of Jerry’s Artists Outlet in West Orange, generously donated gifts to township students who won Art Advisory Committee ( AAC) awards.

According to Laraine Brennan, Chair of the AAC, “The students received over $3,000 in gifts, supplies, framing, gift cards and gift certificates to Jerry’s Artist Outlet and attended an evening reception with a film for the gifted Point of Origin Artists and Mentor Artists accompanied by live music all evening at the Millburn Public Library.”

The event was held in the library’s beautiful concert/party/theater room. The lecture room accommodates 400–500 guests. Brennan decorated the tables where guests enjoyed a delicious meal from Kings.

The Art Advisory website explains, “Each year, the Art Advisory Committee presents a number of Millburn High School Senior and Junior AP Art Students with merit scholarships. The committee views every AP junior and senior student’s portfolio and selects those that contain not only impressive individual pieces, but demonstrate an overall progression and high achievement. Winners are encouraged to remember their artistic roots in Millburn Township and previous winners return to share their stories and receive continued support from the committee.”

This year's returning alumna and former AAC artist in residence produced seven major works for the AAC landmarks program. Morgan Gruer surprised Brennan by attending the event without telling her. See some of Gruer's beautiful paintings above. Brennan shared, “With AAC mentoring and guidance through her college years, Morgan has emerged as a top producer of animated projects for major companies.” She continued, “Morgan just completed shooting footage in New York for a feature film.” .

“Gruer lent her film to AAC to show young artists, their parents and the community what Millburn artists can achieve with encouragement and support,” said Brennan.
