HOBOKEN, NJ - The City of Hoboken honored more than two dozen of its firefighters prior to the Memorial Day Parade as is tradition at the 2024 Hoboken Fire Department Valor Awards.

The private ceremony took place at City Hall as the firefighters were honored before their families and peers for their dedication, service, and courage dating back to 2019.

The awards honor Captains, Battalion Chiefs, Firefighters, and Dispatchers for their outstanding professionalism and often life-saving measures in many situations including major fires, car accidents, medical emergencies, and building collapses.

"Our Firefighters put their lives on the line on a daily basis, to keep our City and residents safe,” said Mayor Ravi Bhalla. “I want to personally thank the entire department, and their families for their courage and dedication to Hoboken.”

“The stories told at the awards ceremony are only some examples of the work these men and women do every day, without hesitation,” said Public Safety Director Ken Ferrante. “There is no doubt we will continue to hear great things coming from the Hoboken Fire Department’s Bravest.”

"No one becomes a firefighter for the recognition or awards,” said Fire Chief Anton Peskens. “I am proud of every one of our members for the work they are being honored for, and for the work they do every day.”

Manzetti received the Commendation of Courage Award for their bravery and professionalism in helping to safely and respectfully recover the body of one of the two fallen firefighters who perished that night.
