JERSEY CITY, NJ- Members of the public joined numerous service members for a Fleet Week celebration at Liberty State Park on May 26. Hudson County officials also celebrated Fleet Week at a separate event earlier in the week in Jersey City.

The celebration included Navy and Marine helicopter demos and Coast Guard search and rescue demos, and gave the public opportunities to meet the flight crews and interact with military displays including the Navy Dive Tank.

In addition, attendees enjoyed youth and family activities through the Jersey City Office of Cultural Affairs.

There were also performances by Navy Band Northeast, Coast Guard Silent Drill Team, and Marine Corps Band.

"Fleet Week is about celebrating those who serve and recognizing the unyielding strength of our Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard team," said Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Rear Adm. Wesley McCall. "As we come together to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during their service, we are reminded of the diverse and inclusive fighting force that is currently serving to protect national security and preserve our way of life.

"Our service members are excited for the opportunity to engage with the community and create lasting connections with the people of New York during this time-honored tradition."
