    Doylestown Hospital has received several awards from the American Heart Association for its care of heart disease and stroke.

    DOYLESTOWN, PA—Doylestown Hospital has received several awards from the American Heart Association recognizing the quality care its clinicians provide in treating heart disease and stroke.

    The hospital was cited for its care of patients with stroke, heart failure, in-hospital heart attacks and coronary artery disease in patients with type 2 diabetes. The awards were part of the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines program and its Mission: Lifetime initiative. Both programs reward hospitals that follow evidence-based guidelines and research in caring for patients suffering from heart conditions and stroke.

    “Doylestown Hospital is committed to improving care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines and streamlining processes to ensure timely and proper care for heart attacks and strokes,” Doylestown Health President and CEO James L. Brexler said in a statement. “The Mission: Lifeline and Get With The Guidelines programs make it easier for our teams to put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis, which helps us ensure that that our patients experience longer, healthier lives.”

    According to data from the American Heart Association, someone in the U.S. has a stroke or heart attack every 40 seconds. Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death in the U.S, and stroke is the No. 5 cause of death.
