DOYLESTOWN, PA—The Central Bucks School District Education Foundation received a boost earlier this spring when a local bank gave a $20,000 check to the newish organization.

C&N presented a $20,000 check to the foundation in June. The mission of the educational foundation is to develop partnerships with the community to raise money to give students greater resources to learn. The foundation was created about two years ago.

“As a young foundation eager to improve our community through innovative educational opportunities,” foundation President Adam Assoian said in a statement, “Central Bucks School District Education Foundation is thrilled to have C&N Bank as one of our key supporters.”

Because the foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, donations are tax-deductible. Businesses like C&N can give money under Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, which gives participating businesses a tax break.

Grants can be used for a variety of purposes including dual-enrollment programs, where Central Bucks students take a course taught at one of the district’s three high schools for college credit, field trips that provide on-site learning to supplement classroom instruction, and STEAM programs that focus on science and math.

The school district created the foundation about two years ago after parting ways with another organization, CB Cares. The district has been ramping up its operations and fund-raising efforts recently to get ready for the 2024-2025 school year.

In the spring of 2022, when the district announced that it was going to create a new foundation, Superintendent Abram Lucabaugh said the district wanted to create an organization that would raise a significant amount of money to address shrinking levels of state and federal aid. Lucabaugh said that the district needed to find new sources of revenue to give students "a truly world-class educational experience."

Lucabaugh pointed to educational foundations at nearby districts like Methacton, which he said awarded more than $440,000 in grants to the district in the 2020-2021 school year. At that time, the CB Cares website said that the organization had raised $177,000 in “innovative learning grants” for the district since 2012.
