MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The Mount Laurel Planning Board on August 8 approved MiPro Homes’ application regarding preliminary plans and major subdivision plans for a new 17-home housing development called Whispering Woods, which will be located near 249 Elbo Lane.

At one point before the Planning Board’s vote, roughly 40 members of the public attended the virtual meeting.

One member of the public, Lauren Dionot, asked the applicant to extend the new development’s sidewalk from the entrance of Maple Glenn Road down Cemetery Road to the entrance of Stanwyck Road.

However, representatives for the applicant said that the sidewalk would end at Cemetery Road. Jeff Baron, one of those representatives, added, “I understand your request, and I understand where it stems from (but) we have provided the sidewalk and the frontages that we need to, and in the interior of the site.”

Another member of the public, Frank Acito, asked the applicant to address stormwater management on some of the roads in and around the new development. Acito added, “I am just curious if there is any remediation that is going to take place in from our yards into this area where we drain right now.”

Joseph Mancini, another representative of the applicant, responded that the new development would not make stormwater management issues for the existing homes adjacent to the site any worse.

The Planning Board’s approval allows the applicant’s plans to construct ten single-family residential homes on a proposed road named Whispering Court, seven such homes on a proposed road named Whispering Lane, two such homes along the existing Cemetery Road and the use of two lots for stormwater management and wetlands to proceed. The applicant must still receive the planning board’s approval on final plans for the site and several state agency approvals, according to Planning Board Solicitor Ron Cucchario.

Construction on the new development will begin roughly three to six months after those other approvals are received, and the construction of all 17 homes would take approximately 18 to 24 months to complete, according to Michael Procacci, another MiPro Homes representative.

I am really confused on why they're building so many homes at a alarming rate when no one can afford them anyway.

This is exactly why people don't go to township meetings. The idiots on the boards do what they want anyway. Than officials wonder why more people don't go to the meetings! Pathetic loosers
