Princeton, NJ – If you have been yearning for a quiet summer weekend in town, here’s your chance. It’s not the middle of summer, it’s actually the middle of August, an even quieter moment for our esteemed event editor.

It is certainly quiet, but it’s not dead.

And because not much else is happening this weekend, it may bode well for the first ever Community Yard Sale planned for Saturday, August 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at YMCA, 59 Paul Robeson Place. Rain date: Sunday, August 18.

The Community Yard Sale, being Hosted by YWCA Princeton, Princeton Human Services, and Sustainable Princeton, is emphasizing community. The sponsoring organizations have been stressing that they want vendors to provide affordable goods, especially kids' clothing, household items, and toys -- budget-friendly items. “This yard sale is more than just a shopping event; it is a celebration of sustainability, community spirit, and economic accessibility,” the organizers say.

As of several days ago, vendors were still being encouraged to apply to participate in the yard sale. “We are currently seeking people to sell their goods at this event. As sustainability and economic accessibility are key goals of this event, we ask that participants offer affordable goods for residents in need. Help us support our community by selling your goods at reduced prices.

“We are especially seeking community members who have kids clothing to offer as we will be nearing back to school time. Household items and toys will likely also be popular items for this event.”
