HAMILTON, NJ- The Hamilton Township Police Division is set to launch the annual end of summer “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign on Friday. Set to run through September 2, the statewide effort will see local and state law enforcement officials conducting saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints looking for motorists who may be driving while intoxicated.

“Getting behind the wheel while impaired is a serious and dangerous decision that comes with real-life consequences. The ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign is not merely a slogan; it is a reminder that risking lives on the road is never OK,” New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said previously.

As part of the campaign law enforcement officials also issued a reminder to travelers that driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs is illegal in all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Those taking to the streets and highways should plan ahead and never drive after consuming alcohol, marijuana or other drugs. Instead, designate a sober driver, or call a ride-hailing service or taxi to make sure you get home safely.

If you see an impaired driver on the road, officials advise, call 911.
