Attention Actors: New Jersey ‘Extras’ Wanted for ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

MORRISTOWN, NJ — Wanna be in the movies? Your big break may be coming.

A Manhattan casting agency has put out a call for New Jerseyans to be paid extras in Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2,” a Netflix sequel to his 1996 box office hit comedy.

Grant Wilfley Casting will hold a casting call from 1 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at the Morristown Hyatt Regency’s Plaza Ballroom, according to its recent Instagram post. The agency is looking for New Jerseyans of all ages. If you’re interested in a tryout, register in advance at this Grant Wilfley website .

Filming is set to take place from September to November in Bergen, Essex, Monmouth, Morris, and Somerset counties, the casting agency said.

The original “Happy Gilmore” was about a foulmouthed professional hockey player (Sandler) who enters a golf tournament to win enough money to spare his grandmother from losing her house to foreclosure.

“Happy Gilmore” earned $41 million worldwide at box office in 1996, cementing Sandler as one of the biggest comedy stars of that decade, according to Variety .

Actor Christopher McDonald will reportedly reprise his role as Gilmore’s nemesis “Shooter McGavin” in the upcoming film. It is unknown if other original co-stars – like “Modern Family” star Julie Bowen, or actors Kevin Nealon and Allen Covert – have signed on for “Happy Gimore 2.”
