CLARK, NJ - The Union County Summer Music Festival turned into a day of vibrant energy and family-friendly fun as Taylor Nation headlined a spectacular event that drew Swifties and festival-goers of all ages on Saturday. Presented by the Union County Board of County Commissioners and held at Oakwood Park, the festival was a resounding success, featuring a dynamic mix of lively performances, engaging activities, and a strong sense of community spirit.
The excitement was palpable as DJ Mickey G and Jarred Campbell took the stage to warm up the crowd with a mix of original songs and popular covers, including Jersey favorite Bon Jovi. Their energetic sets resonated with a diverse audience, ranging from enthusiastic tweens to families with young "Swifties."
Beyond the music, the festival offered a wide array of activities designed to entertain attendees of all ages. The grounds buzzed with energy as children enjoyed inflatable bouncy houses, towering slides, and a challenging rock climbing wall. Families found joy in face painting and arts and crafts, including friendship bracelet-making, which added a creative touch to the day’s festivities.
County booths served as focal points throughout the event, providing attendees with opportunities to learn more about local agencies, access important information, and collect giveaways. These booths offered valuable insights into community services and programs, further enhancing the festival’s role as a unifying community gathering.
Despite a few light sprinkles earlier in the day, the weather largely cooperated, allowing festival-goers to fully enjoy the activities and performances.
The Union County Board of County Commissioners warmly welcomed everyone to the event, with Commissioner Chairwoman Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded expressing gratitude to the Union County Education Association (UCEA) for sponsoring the day's concert. “This promises to be a fun-filled afternoon for all,” she remarked.
Palmieri-Mouded also acknowledged the presence of key representatives from various offices, including the Union County Commissioner’s Office, the Union County Sheriff’s Department, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the Department of Public Safety, and the Division of Children and Youth Services. She extended a special thank you to the Parks and Recreation Department, Public Safety Department, and Facilities Department for their hard work in making the event possible, stating, “We couldn’t have done it without you—thank you!” Palmieri-Mouded then introduced her fellow Commissioners: Vice Chairwoman Lourdes Leon, Commissioner Sergio Granados, and Commissioner Michele Delisfort, adding, “I’m especially delighted to have my daughter here as well.”
Taylor Nation’s performance brought the festival to a thrilling climax. The crowd’s energy soared during the encore, with a spirited rendition of “Shake It Off” that had everyone dancing despite the rain. A heartfelt moment followed as Taylor Nation led a friendship bracelet exchange, symbolizing the deep connection between the artist and her fans.
In true festival fashion, the evening concluded with a memorable selfie session, as Taylor Nation captured the joy and unity of the day with a crowd of adoring fans. This snapshot perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the Union County Summer Music Festival—a celebration of music, community, and shared experiences.
