MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The Mount Laurel Police Department (MLPD) is highlighting recent investigations and arrests that have taken place in the Township through a new community reporting system.

The MLPD rolled out a new feature to its website earlier this year in which residents can sign up to receive a weekly e-newsletter delivered to their inboxes that summarizes the number of investigation reports, calls for service motor vehicle collisions and overdoses that have taken place throughout the week. The newsletter also highlights specific investigations and arrest incidents.

The latest report covers August 8 through August 13. During that time period, the MLPD conducted 47 investigation reports, had 1,078 calls for service, dealt with 26 motor vehicle collisions and made 15 arrests. There were two overdoses reported in that time frame.

The MLPD highlighted several arrests and investigations, including:

    • Mount Laurel police officers responded to a business on the 1100 block of Route 73 on August 8 at 6:15PM for a report of criminal mischief. During their investigation, they located four juvenile males in the parking lot of a vacant building under construction on the 1100 block of South Route 73. Officers found the building unsecured and discovered that multiple fire extinguishers had been extinguished inside. The four juveniles were detained and then released to their parents. The investigation is ongoing with charges pending.
    • Officers responded to a business on the 3600 block of West Route 38 on August 8 at 3:33AM for a report of a suspicious person and found the suspect in the parking lot. Their investigation found that the individual possessed methamphetamine and heroin. The suspect was charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and was released on a summons.
    • On August 13 at 5:09AM, Mount Laurel police officers responded to a business on the 4000 block of Crawford Place for a report of a suspicious person yelling inside a U-Haul box truck. When they arrived, officers located the subject and observed signs of impairment, and also discovered illegal CDS within a pill container in plain view inside the truck. The suspect was arrested and charged with CDS offenses on a summons.
    • On August 13 at 9:01AM, officers investigated a burglary on the 100 block of Haines Road. The resident reported that they were woken up by a loud noise at 3:12AM but did not investigate further. Later, the resident discovered their garage door partially open, the door handle damaged and items disturbed. No items were reported stolen.
