The Office will be using the Vectobac GS EPA Reg # 73049-10 active ingredient of BTI (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis)for the control of larval (immature, Aquatic state) mosquitoes.

According to the county office the treatment is not a liquid or aerosol spray nor is it directed at adult mosquitoes.  The treatment is intended to reduce future adult mosquito populations by targeting the “aquatic larval” stage of their development.

While residents may see a plane flying over their homes, no application will be made in residential neighborhoods.  County officials say this is the pilot approaching the wetlands scheduled for treatment.

Questions can be directed to the Office of Mosquito Control at 973-940-5225 from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday thought Friday.
