Springfield Police Arrest New York Man on Gun Charges

SPRINGFIELD, NJ -- Springfield police arrested a New York man on Wednesday, Aug. 14 on weapons charges.

A 47-year-old Yorktown Heights, N.Y. man was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence, possession of a handgun, and possession of hollow point bullets as a result of a motor vehicle stop on Morris Avenue that day.

Ten days prior, in an unconnected incident, officers responded to the area of Baltusrol Way on a report of suspicious activity. An individual was located by a responding officer at a Mountain Avenue business and refused to provide his identifying information.

The suspect, later identified as a 30-year-old Springfield man, was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension, as well as an outstanding warrant out of Union.
