PLAINFIELD, NJ — This spring, the Plainfield Board of Education announced that students who are entering first through fifth grades this school year are invited to apply to the Cook School STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) Program. The original deadline was May 31, but as there are still spots available, parents who are interested are encouraged to apply before the end of August. The first day of school is September 5.

The magnet school vows to spark children's curiosity and nurture their passion for learning in a project-based setting. As part of the hands-on learning, the school will feature a continuous speaker series, hosting guests from a host of careers.

This reimagined Cook School will have 120 seats for students grades 1-5. While students living in the Cook School zone will have first priority, the program will be open to all students in Plainfield—though transportation will not be provided for students.
