    Mount Olive Man Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison for Endangering the Welfare of a Child; Morris County Prosecutor

    MORRISTOWN, NJ - Joseph  Guzman, age 44, of Mount Olive, has been sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with a November 2022 arrest, announced  Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Deputy Chief of Detectives Jan-Michael Monrad, and  Mount Olive Police Department Chief Michael Spitzer.

    Guzman pled guilty to one count of third degree Endangering the Welfare  of a Child, on October 27, 2023.  He will also be required to register pursuant to Megan’s Law and  will be on Parole Supervision for Life. He is not to have any contact with the victim or the victim’s  family, according to police.

    The investigation  revealed that Guzman sexually assaulted a 16-year-old female victim at Joseph Vincent’s Salon in  Mount Olive on August 10, 2022. Guzman was the victim’s employer and supervisor at the salon.  He was charged on November 23, 2022.

    Prosecutor Carroll would like to thank and acknowledge the Mount Olive Police Department and  the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit for their efforts  which led to the successful prosecution.
