FREEHOLD, NJ – A Monmouth County Grand Jury has indicted Alex J. Williams, 25, of Wall Township, for the brutal murder of his girlfriend in the parking lot of an apartment complex this past May, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced Tuesday.

Williams is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, two counts of second degree endangering the welfare of a child, third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (a machete), and fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

The incident occurred on the morning of May 23, 2024, when Wall Township Police were called to the Glen Oaks Apartment Complex at approximately 9:22 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the female victim, who had suffered severe injuries from what authorities described as a prolonged and violent attack. The investigation revealed that Williams used a machete to repeatedly assault the victim in what prosecutors are calling a premeditated act of extreme violence.

The presence of children at the scene has also raised alarm, as Williams has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, though further details about the children’s involvement or their relation to the victim have not been disclosed.

Williams was arrested at the scene without resistance and was immediately transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI), where he remains held. The State successfully argued for his detention, citing the severity of the charges and the potential risk to the community.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutors Joseph Cummings and Keri Schaefer of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, who are expected to present evidence of Williams' intent and the premeditated nature of the crime. Williams is represented by defense attorney Anthony C. Aldorasi, Esq., who has indicated that his client will plead not guilty.
