Long Branch Police remind you to keep your pets indoors and away from crowds and fireworks.

"Pets and fireworks don't mix," according to a post on the Long Branch Police Department's Facebook page.

Police also remind pet owners to:

    • Give pets a safe place to hide in a comfortable room or crate.
    • Use ambient noise, such as a TV or radio, to mask the outside noise.
    • Update your pet's IDs and microchips, just in case.
    • Keep pets busy, with toys and other distractions.
    • Consider skipping the celebration and staying at home with them.
