    The Peapack and Gladstone Police Department Release Recent Distracted Driver Statistics and Incidents

    The Peapack and Gladstone Police Department has released distracted driver statistics for August and incidents for the end of July and August.

    Peapack-Gladstone, NJ - The Peapack and Gladstone Police Department released the final distracted driver statistics in August:

    Additionally, Peapack and Gladstone Police Department has announced the following incidents for the end of July into August:

    On July 22, 2024 at 11:29 PM, Detective Nicholas Ortiz was patrolling Rt. 206 South when he observed a red Toyota traveling at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle approached the merge at the south end of Rt.206 near Holland Avenue, the red Toyota nearly rear ended another vehicle. Det. Ortiz attempted to stop the vehicle and upon doing so, the red Toyota struck a guardrail on Rt. 206. Upon approaching the operator of the vehicle, identified as Brandon D. Abello, a 21-year-old male, from Piscataway, Det. Ortiz detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from within the vehicle. After Abello failed several field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding, tailgating, careless driving and reckless driving. Abello was released to a responsible party in accordance with John's Law.

    On August 10, 2024 at 6:38 PM, Officer Luke Tamburello was conducting motor vehicle enforcement near Holland Road when he stopped a silver Honda CRV for a motor vehicle violation. Upon approaching the operator of the vehicle, he identified the driver as Femi Emmanuel of Union, NJ. Upon conducting a check of Emmanuel's driver's license, it was discovered that it was suspended and Emmanuel had an active warrant in the amount of $500 out of the Union Twp. Municipal Court. Emmanuel was processed on the warrant and released after receiving a motor vehicle summons for driving while suspended.

    On August 14, 2024, at 9:31 PM, Officer Luke Tamburello was patrolling the Gladstone section of the Borough when he came into contact with a green Buick. Upon observing the vehicle, Ofc. Tamburello noticed that it was unable to maintain its lane and continued to swerve between the double yellow line and the white fog line. Upon stopping the vehicle near the Gladstone Train Station, Ofc. Tamburello identified the operator as Linda Koenig, a 67-year-old female from Garwood, NJ. Koenig exhibited signs of being under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or drug. After Koenig failed several field sobriety tests, she was transported to police headquarters for processing. Due to her level of impairment, a drug recognition expert was requested and Koenig was evaluated. An initial evaluation indicated Koenig was under the influence of a narcotic. She was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane and failure to observe a stop sign. Koenig was released to a responsible party in accordance with John's Law.

    On August 20, 2024, at 3:23 PM, Detective Adam Caruso and Corporal Paul Morris responded to the area of Highland Ave. for the report of an intoxicated male. Upon arrival, the officers made contact with Abioudun Osunsanya, a 59-year-old male from Philipsburg, NJ. Once speaking with Osunsanya, Det. Caruso observed that Osunsanya had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. Osunsanya was also exhibiting signs of intoxication. After speaking with Osunsanya further, it was revealed that he had driven to the area. After Osunsanya failed several field sobriety tests, he was transported to police headquarters where he was processed for driving while intoxicated. Osunsanya's blood alcohol content was two times the legal limit. Osunsanya was released to a responsible party in accordance with John's Law.
