Fair Lawn Schools Ready to Open on September 4

FAIR LAWN, NJ - The superintendent said staff and facilities are ready to go for the fall, noting this summer has been the busiest since the referendum added additions to the middle schools.

"The number of facility updates that have been done is tremendous," Dr. Rui Dionisio, superintendent of schools, said on August 22.

The following projects have been completed or will be completed in the coming weeks:

• Paving at the High School and Memorial Middle School completed
• Concrete stairs on the back end of Milnes and TJ Middle School completed
• Addition of a walking path at the front of the high school, as well as landscaping completed
• Fencing installed at Westmoreland, Thomas Jefferson and Fair Lawn High School, in addition to landscaping throughout the school district.
• Multi-purpose rooms were all painted at the elementary schools, as well as large fans installed for cooling and ventilation.
• Replaced worn cafeteria furniture
• Added two new gym floors at Radburn Elementary School and also Thomas Edison
• Sasso turf field has been replaced and will be completed in the next few weeks in time for the new season.
• Thomas Edison School roof replaced. Board meetings will resume at Edison going forward.
