Sparta High School Girls Cross Country 'Experienced Newcomers' Join 2024 Fall Roster

SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta High School girls' cross country track team will have 10 new athletes on the roster though five have had track experience. Coach Sierra Horetsky is excited to see how they have enmeshed as a team.
“With many athletes new to the XC team this fall, we are excited to see how the girls work together to navigate racing the 5k. We have many athletes who transferred from other sports and have participated in winter and spring track. I'm excited to see them on the cross-country course,” Horetsky said.
Sierra Harms – sophomore who participated in Sparta’s winter and spring track last year
Rebecca Johnson - freshman
Tamara Lelitka – junior who participated in Sparta’s spring track last year
Viktoriia Lelitka – junior who participated in Sparta’s winter and spring track last year
Julianna Reid - freshman
Celia Rossettini – sophomore who participated in Sparta’s winter and spring track last year
Kaelyn Sabanosh - freshman
Jan Stas - freshman
Emma Westervelt - participated in SHS winter and spring track last year and has switched from field hockey to join XC this year.
The cross country team bade farewell to Ashley Crane who graduated from Sparta High School in June. She is running at Colgate in their cross country and track programs.
Horetsky noted Sage Errichetti, Leah Geety, Natalie Gilmartin, Leisl Hessel and Sachi Paniker are returning to the cross country squad and “will be making big strides this year.”
The girls’ 2024 schedule has them running in Morristown’s Central Park at Batch Meets on September 17, September 24 and October 1. The NJAC meet is scheduled for October 15 in the same location.
