SUMMIT, NJ – As Summit students prepare to head back to school, the Summit Police Department is sharing some safety tips for motorists and children who are walking and biking to school.

“Pedestrian safety is always a priority for Summit Police, but it’s particularly important during back to school when children may be distracted by the excitement of seeing friends and meeting new teachers,” explains Summit Police Lt. Charlie Daly. “Across the United States, thousands of children are injured in collisions with motor vehicles each year. Drivers are encouraged to leave plenty of time for travel and pay close attention to the road when driving, especially in school zones.”
