Body Found in Pine Brook Pond; Montville Police Seeking Answers

MONTVILLE, NJ – Police Chief Andrew Caggiano is seeking residents’ help in solving the drowning case of a man in Pine Brook.

“At 8:46 p.m. on [Sunday,] Aug. 25, the Montville Township Police Department received a report of a missing person,” Caggiano told TAPinto Montville. “The person had reportedly gone fishing on the morning of Aug. 24, and had not returned.”

The missing man, a 64-year-old Pine Brook resident, had reportedly gone to an area located behind the industrial complex on Chapin Road in Pine Brook.

Police officers located his fishing equipment on the shoreline and began a search of the area. The Montville Township Police Department was assisted by Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Morris County Office of Emergency Management, Pine Brook Fire Department, Parsippany Rescue and Recovery and both Montville and Parsippany First Aid Squads.

The body of an adult male was located in the pond, was pulled from the water and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Caggiano said. The Detective Bureau of the Montville Township Police Department, along with the Moris County Sheriff’s Office are continuing this investigation.
