MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — The Mount Laurel Police Department (MLPD) is highlighting recent investigations and arrests that have taken place in the Township through a new community reporting system.

The MLPD rolled out a new feature to its website earlier this year in which residents can sign up to receive a weekly e-newsletter delivered to their inboxes that summarizes the number of investigation reports, calls for service motor vehicle collisions and overdoses that have taken place throughout the week. The newsletter also highlights specific investigations and arrest incidents.

The latest report covers August 16 through August 20. During that time period, the MLPD conducted 56 investigation reports, had 1,049 calls for service, dealt with 22 motor vehicle collisions and made 15 arrests. There was one overdose reported in that time frame.

The MLPD highlighted several arrests and investigations, including:

    • Mount Laurel police officers responded to a report of a shoplifting on August 16 at 9:42AM at a business on the 900 block of Route 73. During the incident, a suspect was detained after initially ignoring police commands, and was found to have previously trespassed at the business and was in possession of crack cocaine. The suspect was arrested and charged with shoplifting, trespassing, obstruction and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) on a summons. In a related incident at the same location, another individual was identified in connection with two previous shoplifting. The suspect had an active warrant and resisted arrest after being found in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. The individual was charged with the CDS offenses, shoplifting and resisting arrest and was released on a summons.
    • On August 19 at 8:10AM, officers responded to the 700 blocks of Amsterdam and Grant Roads for trespassing complaints in which residents reported seeing two individuals on their property through surveillance footage. No items were reported missing.
    • Mount Laurel officers also responded to the 700 block of Amsterdam Road on August 19 at 10:49AM for a report of criminal mischief, after a resident found a flowerpot thrown at their fire pit. An individual matching the description from the earlier trespassing incident reports was detained and released pending further investigation.
    • Mount Laurel police responded to a bank robbery at the Bank of America, located at 3131 Route 38, on August 20 at 1:32PM. The investigation found that a suspect demanded and received $2,509 from a bank employee after presenting a note claiming they were committing a robbery. The suspect fled the scene. Detectives are actively investigating.
    • On August 20 at 7:02PM, officers responded to the report of a missing person in the area of Larchmont Boulevard and Route 38. Officers encountered the missing person, who became agitated when approached, kicking one officer while trying to disarm another. The individual was charged on a summons with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer.
