    Car Crashes and Flips on Coles Ave. Late Saturday, Scotch Plains Police Charge Driver with DUI

    A car crashed and flipped on Coles Ave. in Scotch Plains late Saturday evening. The driver, from Brooklyn, was charged with DUI. There were no serious injuries reported.

    SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Giorgi G. Odilavadze, 35, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested for DUI after crashing his vehicle into a parked car on Coles Ave. in Scotch Plains late Saturday evening.

    Scotch Plains responded at approximately 11:35 p.m. to a reported motor vehicle accident involving a rollover. Upon arrival, Officer Vincent Conti saw Odilavadze standing outside the vehicle. After checking the driver for injuries, Officer Conti conducted a DUI investigation after the smell of alcohol was detected.

    The police report said Odilavadze failed several sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. A breath test confirmed Odilavadze had a blood alcohol of 0.13%, according to the police blotter. (In New Jersey, it is illegal for a person over the age of 21 to drive with a BAC greater than 0.08%.)

    Odilavadze was issued summonses for a court appearance.
