    County Funds Life Skills Program to Support Chronically Homeless, Mentally Ill and Substance-Abuse Addicted Population

    HUDSON COUNTY, NJ - The Hudson County Board of Commissioners approved $174,075 to Guazabara Insights for the Provision of Educational Life Skills Programming for the Department of Family Services and Reintegration.

    The initiative will target the chronically homeless, mentally ill and substance-abuse addicted population leaving the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Center and returning to the community. Guazabara provides educational services to criminal offenders at the Hudson County Correctional Rehabilitation Center, which benefits clients through focus on cultural, social, emotional, literacy, and family civics as well as self-sufficiency and the values of service. The Department continues to find these are necessary services for the Division of Reentry’s programming needs.

    Through the use of handout materials, video viewing, workshops and group participation, Guazabara Insights structures the teaching modules to incorporate community and family philosophy.

    The program will run through June 30, 2025.
