WAYNE, NJ – Your NJ Warriors Disabled Veterans National Championship hockey team, led by Wayne resident, and Head Coach Ted Curtin, are hosting their 3 ^rd Annual Patriot’s Day Shootout. A fundraising event held each year to honor the victims of 9/11. This is open to all first responders, veterans and active-duty military hockey players in the tri-state area as shooters or goal tenders.

Together with NJ Devils Alumni, our local heroes will take 2,977 shots to honor the 2,977 victims who perished on September 11, 2001. It will be a grueling, yet rewarding evening for the on-ice participants, but each one does it for their brethren, as a reminder as to why they continue to sacrifice and serve us all, and so they never forget that terrible day.

Nearly 3,000 shots can be a grind that can take a toll on shooters, and bruise peppered goaltenders. So, the more players who participate, the less the burden is on each individual. You can help by spreading the word and sharing this article with any and all first responder, veteran or active duty hockey players you know.

The event takes place Sunday, September 8 ^th , 2024, at The Rink at American Dream in East Rutherford, NJ and all proceeds from the event will go to benefit the NJ Warriors and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Spectators are welcome, and its free to come watch the action and support our heroes .

For players, a minimum of $25.00 per participant is suggested to help raise money and cover the cost of the event and advanced registration is required.

“Please wear your respective team jersey or agency colors,” reads the event listing . “The event will start promptly at 6pm and food will be available beforehand. Allow time for parking, changing, and enjoying some food and camaraderie among fellow first responders and veterans.”

Locker Rooms will be marked, and a NJ Warriors Rep will be on-site to help with any questions.
