Women’s Civic Club of Katonah Ready to Power into September

KATONAH, N.Y. - With plenty of new members and a host of activities scheduled for fall, the Women’s Civic Club of Katonah is ready to power into September.

The first board meeting of the new season will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The ‘Welcome Back Brunch’ will follow the monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. Members can RSVP to Mary Jo O’Brien at 914-666-2064. The cost of the brunch is $10.

The Thrift Shop is the primary source of income for the club’s many charities and reopens on Thursday, Sept. 5 with a new look and exciting new merchandise. During the summer closure, volunteers cleaned thoroughly and unsold goods from previous seasons were packed up and donated to Big Brothers, Big Sisters, United Breast Cancer Federation and the Lewisboro Library Fair.

In addition, plans for the Oktoberfest on Sept. 27are being finalized. The Oktoberfest has been a huge success not only with members and their families, but the community as well, with German food, beer and music.

Members can continue to attend Mahjongg on Wednesdays at 1 p.m., starting Sept. 4, and the Book Club will be turning pages again on Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m. with Emelia Hart’s “Weyward.”
