UNION, NJ – Union police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a vehicle involved in a hit and run on Thursday night, leaving a pedestrian in critical condition.

Police say officers responded to Stuyvesant Avenue and Pleasant Parkway at about 8:45 Thursday night with a report of a pedestrian struck by a car.  Officers arrived to find a man with serious injuries in the middle of the street. He was crossing the street when he was struck by what police say appeared to be a Ford pickup truck, which fled the scene on Stuyvesant towards Oakland Ave.

According to police, the officers tended to the injured 34-year-old man from Irvington, who was then taken to University Hospital in critical condition.

Police say they are looking for a Ford F150 extended cab pickup truck, without a bed cover, with a chrome front bumper and two New Jersey license plates. There was no debris left at the scene, but the truck would have damage to the front bumper and hood area from the impact, police say.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Union police at 908-851-5000 or email Traffic Investigator Marco Novoa-Rios @ mnovoarios@uniontownship.com.
