Reports of Two Juveniles Shot in Parking Lot of Passaic County Tech Friday Night

WAYNE, NJ – According to witnesses and reports, two juveniles were shot in the parking lot after a football game at Passaic County Vocational and Technical Schools in Wayne, NJ on Friday evening around 7:45pm.

A statement from a representative of Lenape High School, the opposing football team that night, reported that no Lenape High School students or staff were harmed, they confirmed the shooting incident and that the “suspect” is in custody.”

The victims were taken to a local hospital, reportedly one male and one female.

Wayne Township Fire Commissioner Keith Heyman confirmed that the volunteers of the Wayne Memorial First Aid Squad reported to the scene and transported “one person to a local hospital,” and could not comment on other ambulances transporting anyone else who may have been hurt.

According to a post on Facebook by Alexa Rodriguez, the male was 16-years old, is her friend, and that he was “fine." But she had no update on the female victim.

“I only saw two victims,” read a comment on the same Facebook post from Shayne Wille. “I was so close by when it happened. Didn’t get close enough to see if the victim that appeared to sustain the worse of the injuries was a boy or girl but I’ve heard it was a girl. Another victim was def a black male that seemed to have a leg injury. I am so upset about this and praying for these young kids 💔🙏🏻💔🙏🏻💔"

Conflicting reports state that there was one suspect, while another reported that there were two suspects who were arrested.

One witness said there were injuries because of the panic in the parking lot at the time of the shooting. And the scene after was chaotic afterward as it took time before authorities began to let people leave the stadium.

The incident remains under investigation.
