    Robert G. Weigand, 95, of Hazlet honored for 75 years of service with the Hazlet Volunteer Fire Department.

    HAZLET, NJ: There are those extraordinary people we meet in our lives who give back to the community as a part of their every day life. Hazlet's  Robert G. Weigand, 95, is one of those people. He was recently recognized for 75 years of dedication and service with the Hazlet Volunteer Fire Department.

    According to Hazlet Township, since 1953, Weigand has served in different roles, such as firefighter, chief and district commissioner.

    In addition to his first responder roles, Weigand served a 40-year career with Hazlet Township, starting as its sole employee doing road duty and ending as the Township Administrator.

    He continues to give back locally by helping to preserve the Hazlet story, as a Township Historian.

    Congratulations were delivered to Weigand at Hazlet Fire Co. #1 on August 23, 2024, were family, friends, and fellow fire company and department members; Hazlet Township Committeeman Michael Glackin; and Robert J. Kelly of the New Jersey State Fireman's Association Executive Committee.
