WEST ORANGE, NJ -- The Union High School football team had about as difficult an assignment as a program can have for Jason Scott's first game as the Farmers' head coach.

Union went on the road against perennial powerhouse Seton Hall Prep and lost, 34-0, on opening day Friday afternoon.

Kahden Davis scored on a 5-yard touchdown run five minutes into the game to put Seton Hall Prep on the board. After that, Union held its own defensively until Davis threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Max Figueroa with 6:24 to go in the second quarter.

Seton Hall's defense forced Union to surrender a safety with three minutes left in the half, and then the Pirates got a 39-yard field goal from Declan Farrell 20 seconds before intermission to give Seton Hall an 18-0 lead at the half.

Seton Hall Prep added a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter on a 21-yard fumble return by Justin Cook and a 1-yard run from Colin Moore.

Seton Hall Prep is one of only two non-public schools on Union's schedule, but it doesn't get much easier for the Farmers next week, when they travel to Hillsborough for a game on Friday, Sept. 6.
