    Warren Police Arrest NY Man for Receiving Stolen Property and Eluding Police

    WARREN, NJ -- — Warren Township Chief of Police Robert Ferreiro on Friday announced the arrest of Abdourahmane Seck, age 35, of Bronx, NY.

    Chief Ferreiro stated that on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at approximately 9 PM, Warren Township Police received an alert from an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR), affixed within Warren Township, of a vehicle bearing a stolen license plate. Within minutes of receiving the alert, officers located the vehicle in a shopping center where a suspect was also located. When officers attempted to approach the suspect, he fled the shopping center at a high rate of speed, driving recklessly, disregarding red traffic signals, and improperly passing other vehicles. Officers attempted a motor vehicle stop, but the suspect continued at a high rate of speed, ultimately eluding the officers.

    Through various investigative means, Seck was positively identified as the suspect involved in this incident.  Seck was charged with Eluding 2nd Degree, and Receiving Stolen Property a Disorderly Persons Offense, which were both placed on a warrant. Additionally, numerous motor vehicle summonses were issued to Seck for his reckless operation of a motor vehicle while eluding officers.

    On August 24, 2024,  Seck was arrested in NY, extradited to NJ for the above charges, and lodged at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
