    After Chase, Union Police Apprehend Suspects in Stolen Vehicle at Linden Airport

    UNION, NJ – Union police officers participated in a vehicle pursuit Friday evening, ending at the Linden Municipal Airport with the apprehension of three suspects.

    According to police, Union officers located a BMW x3 that had been stolen from town earlier in the day.  When found, the vehicle was parked with three suspects inside in the lot of “The Mills at Jersey Gardens” mall in Elizabeth.

    As officers and detectives advanced on the vehicle to block it in, the driver fled the area, initiating a motor vehicle pursuit.

    This pursuit traversed several municipalities, police say, ultimately coming to an end in Linden after the suspect vehicle became disabled. The suspects fled the vehicle on foot into the Linden Municipal Airport. With the assistance of Linden, Elizabeth, Rahway and Union County Police Departments as well as the New Jersey State Police, all three suspects were located and arrested.

    Police say, the twenty-year old male driver was charged with two counts of eluding, theft of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.  His charges were placed on a warrant, and he will ultimately be transferred to Essex County Jail.

    A nineteen-year-old male passenger was charged with receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.  He will be lodged in Essex County Jail as well.

    A juvenile male passenger was charged with receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.  He was released to his guardian.
