Cheerleaders and Marching Band Bring Spirit & Pride to Rahway Football's Season Opener

RAHWAY, NJ — We can't exactly call them unsung heroes, because we already all know that the Rahway Marching Band and the Rahway cheerleaders are awesome. But, at the same time, we're such regular beneficiaries of the ambient enthusiasm and buzzing excitement generated by the members of the band and the cheerleading squad at football games that, let's face it, it's occasionally possible to take them for granted.

But, no, let's not do that! Because, I can assure you, if the cheerleaders stopped cheering and the band stopped banding, uh, I mean, playing and performing, we'd definitely notice, feel pretty sad, and probably cry.

Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but I'm not especially eager to test out that pithy aphorism in this particular instance.

TAPinto Rahway reported yesterday on the varsity football team's big opening season win over Voorhees on Thursday. And the band and cheerleaders were right there the whole time, doing their thing, keeping the energy up and the Rahway spirit flowing. And the marching band also inaugurated its season with a terrific halftime show.

It was a great time. It was a great game. And it was a great gathering of several hundred neighbors and friends.

So, thank you, Rahway musicians and cheerleaders for all you do! We appreciate you!
